In a bizarre turn of events this weekend, a group of skateboarders caused significant damage to a set of elegant stairway chandeliers at the historic Wellington Hall. According to staff, the skaters broke in late Saturday night and used the grand staircase as a makeshift skate spot, grinding down the banisters and reportedly launching tricks off the landings. The ornate chandeliers, which hung over the stairwell and were valued at over $20,000 each, were shattered during the stunt. “It looked like a scene out of Jackass,” one witness said. “There were sparks flying, glass raining down—it was wild.” No injuries were reported, but police are reviewing security footage and asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals involved.

3D modeling for furniture has started to borrow inspiration from the skateboarding world, blending function with raw, expressive design. Just like a skater visualizes a line before hitting a rail, furniture designers use 3D software to “sketch” bold concepts that mirror the flow, curves, and dynamics of skate parks. Think coffee tables shaped like half-pipes, benches with the silhouette of a deck mid-kickflip, or modular shelving that mimics the geometry of a stair set. The rebellious, DIY spirit of skateboarding is finding its way into interiors—digitally sculpted, endlessly tweakable, and ready to be 3D printed or CNC-carved into something totally unique.
